Cymbals TRX Cymbals (core setup): 21" DRK ride 19" MDM or BRT crash 14" MDM or DRK hi-hats 13" DRK/BRT hi-hats 18" MDM or BRT crash 19" LTD custom chinese In addition, I also utilize: 22" Dark ICON 21" NRG ride 20" MDM ride 19" LTD chinese (slightly higher pitch) 19" ICON medium crash 18" ICON medium crash 18" DRK flat ride 16" ALT chinese 15" MDM hi-hats 'stack' cymbal: 14" ICON stacker (top) / 16" ALT chinese (bottom) 12" MDM hi-hats 12" BRT splash 8" BRT splash Drumheads I play Remo drumheads by choice, a rather strong preference of mine. This list -- especially -- evolves, but these are some of my favorites: tom-toms: I've used both clear/coated Emperors, the 'Vintage' variety of each and clear Pinstripes on a few occasions, but I prefer either Vintage coated Emperors or standard clear Emperors / clear Ambassador snare drums: Controlled Sound or Black X / Ambassador snare-side bass drums: usually coated Powerstroke III (with a double mini Falam Slam) but I've also used clear PS3 and coated Emperor / logo head or Powerstroke III Ebony (resonant head is usually ported and there's a bit of 'stuffing' inside of the drum) I tune my drums depending on the genre of music that I'm recording. I try to match the pitch of each lug, and -- generally -- the overall tuning of both the batter and resonant heads for maximum resonance. I control said resonance with a sliver or two of Moon Gel on each drum. Drumsticks I play Vic Firth Ralph Hardimon SRH2 'Hammer' Corpsmaster drumsticks. I've also used Pro-Mark drumstick/mallet combos, Hot Rods, and Vic Firth Rutes and wire brushes for sessions. I also have a pair of hand-wrapped Adam Argullin mallets. Bass Drum Pedals (specific settings, etc.) I play the Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive P3002D double pedal in the longboard configuration. My spring tension is maxed out with the 'power' and 'heavy' settings engaged. I utilize Pearl QuadBeaters (either the plastic or felt side, depending on the music) and they rest about six inches from the head -- hitting close to the center of a 20" bass drum -- with the BW100 beater weights attached at the top of the shaft (only the main body, the black and silver add-on weights are left off).
